Matcha made from more carefully ground ground "Narino", a new variety of tea produced from the "Okunoyama" tea plantation that has been in existence since the Muromachi period (1336-1573), to be exhibited at the National Tea Fair. (Single origin)
The tea leaves are picked using the shigoki-plucking method, which is said to be the most careful of all hand-picking methods. After the tea leaves are picked with the utmost care and attention, the produced Tencha is finally sorted with chopsticks to ensure that only the cleanest leaves are used. The selected leaves are then ground on a stone mortar, resulting in a thicker, creamier taste with less cloying and more concentrated "umami" than the usual Narino.
